What is a chauffeur service in Barcelona, and what does it cover here?
A chauffeur service in Barcelona is a vehicle and a professional driver booked in advance for your party, at a price you know before you travel. On this site it runs from a Mercedes V-Class for up to 7 passengers to a coach for up to 60, so the same booking logic serves a couple, a delegation and a school year.
That range is the difference between this page and a typical limousine company. Most chauffeur services in the city sell cars for one to four guests. I run group transport, and the chauffeur work is the small end of the fleet. If your party is up to 7, you get the people carrier. If it is larger, you stay with one driver and one company, and the vehicle gets bigger.
Booking is simple: send the date, the pick-up and the number of passengers in the quote form and I reply with the vehicle and the price. The sections below answer what people usually ask before they send it.
How much does a chauffeur service in Barcelona cost?
Prices follow a short table, in euros, VAT included, for the whole vehicle and not per passenger. The airport (El Prat) to or from Barcelona is €80 in the V-Class, €200 in the Sprinter and €320 in the minibus and in the coach. The cruise port is priced exactly like the airport.
A driver at your disposal is billed by the hour. Six hours is the minimum per day: €470 in the V-Class, €610 in the Sprinter and €685 in the minibus and the coach. Eight hours is €630, €785 and €900. Each extra hour is €80, €90 and €110. There is no maximum.
The table below turns that into a decision, by party size and the kind of day you have in mind.
| Your party | Vehicle | Airport transfer | Day at your disposal |
|---|---|---|---|
| 1 to 7 guests | V-Class | €80 | 6 hours €470, 8 hours €630 |
| 8 to 16 guests | Sprinter | €200 | 6 hours €610, 8 hours €785 |
| 17 to 33 guests | Minibus | €320 | 6 hours €685, 8 hours €900 |
| 34 to 60 guests | Coach | €320 | 6 hours €685, 8 hours €900 |
For other destinations, other dates and bookings of several days, I quote on request. I do not print a “from” price for those, because a trip to Girona on a Saturday and a trip to Valencia over two days are different jobs. The wider price page shows the same rows with notes.
Is a chauffeur service better than a taxi or a ride-hailing app?
It depends on whether you want to plan or to improvise. A chauffeur booking is planned: the vehicle, the driver, the time and the price are fixed in advance. A taxi or an app is improvised: you order when you need it and pay what the trip comes to.
The Barcelona metropolitan taxi site, run by the AMB, says a taxi can be ordered through an app, by phone, at a rank or by hailing it in the street, and it publishes taxi tariffs and a route cost calculator on its taxi pages. That is the fare structure to compare with. I do not quote taxi fares, because they depend on the meter.
A chauffeur booking is the better choice in four situations:
- A fixed arrival. You land at a set time and want a driver ready, not a queue.
- A group. Five or more people stay in one vehicle instead of splitting into two cars.
- Several stops. A day with a hotel, a meeting, lunch and a venue costs less trouble with one driver at your disposal.
- An early or late hour. The service runs 24 hours a day, every day of the week, so a 5:00 pick-up is a normal booking.
A taxi is the better choice when there is no plan: a short hop, a spontaneous evening, a single address. I would rather you used one than booked a vehicle for a ten-minute ride.
Can I book a chauffeur from Barcelona airport to my hotel?
Yes, and it is the booking I get most often. Give me the flight number, the arrival time, the number of passengers and the hotel address, and I confirm the vehicle and the price, which is a fixed row in the table.
The airport operator, Aena, lists arrival arrangements on its vehicles for hire page. It gives pick-up points by terminal for ride-hailing apps, and a meeting point for chauffeur-driven vehicles in the T1 car park. Because these arrangements are updated, I send you the exact meeting point for your terminal when I confirm the booking.
A few things make airport pick-ups smoother:
- Say whether you arrive at T1 or T2 if you already know it from the airline.
- Tell me about large bags, pushchairs or sports equipment.
- Put a phone number in the form that will be switched on at landing.
- Tell me if anyone needs help with mobility, so the pick-up is planned around it.
For a group of 16 or more, the airport bus hire page describes how I plan the run. Other airports, such as Girona and Reus, have their own pages.
Which vehicle should I choose?
Choose by the number of people and the amount of luggage, not by the label on the vehicle. The V-Class is for up to 7. The Sprinter is for up to 16. The minibus takes up to 33, and the coach takes up to 60.
- One to four guests with ordinary luggage. The V-Class is more than enough, and the airport row is the lowest in the table.
- Five to seven with large cases. Tell me how many cases. If they do not fit, the Sprinter is the answer.
- A delegation of ten to sixteen. The Sprinter keeps everyone in one vehicle with room for laptops, samples or gifts.
- A wedding party, a class or a team. The minibus or coach, depending on the final count.
If you are unsure, send the numbers. I would rather recommend the smaller vehicle that fits than the larger one you do not need.
How does a chauffeur work for a business day?
A business day is usually several short legs: hotel to office, office to lunch, lunch to a plant or a client, then back to the airport. A driver at your disposal suits this better than separate transfers, because the vehicle stays near the venue and nobody waits for a car.
For a small group the V-Class works. For a team that must arrive together, the Sprinter does. For a corporate programme with several vehicles, such as a client event or a roadshow, the corporate bus hire page describes how I plan the shuttles.
Congress weeks are the busiest. MWC Barcelona 2027 runs from 1 to 4 March 2027 at Fira Gran Via, according to the official MWC Barcelona site. Hotels fill, roads around the venue slow down, and a booked vehicle is easier to manage than ad hoc taxis. If your delegation is going, send the days and the hotels as early as you can and I quote against your schedule.
Waiting is part of the hours you book. If a meeting runs long, the driver stays and the extra hour is charged at the hourly rate. If you want the vehicle to leave and come back, say so in the form.
Can I hire a chauffeur by the hour, and how do the hours work?
Yes. Hire by the hour has a 6-hour minimum per day and no maximum, and the clock covers the time the driver is at your disposal, including waiting. The V-Class is €470 for 6 hours and €630 for 8, and an extra hour is €80. In the Sprinter, the figures are €610, €785 and €90.
The hours work best when you have a real use for them. Six hours covers a morning of meetings and a lunch, or an afternoon of sightseeing with a stop for dinner. Eight hours covers a full working day. A single errand of an hour is not a good fit, and a fixed transfer is the better booking.
When you book, tell me where each part of the day happens. I then suggest an order that keeps the driving short. If the day runs over, I tell you when you approach the end of the booked time, so the extra hours are a decision and not a surprise.
Do you offer a car service from Barcelona to Sitges, Girona or the Costa Brava?
Yes, as quotes or as hours. These destinations are not in the fixed table, so I price them on request, and I give the distance and the drive time on each destination page so you can judge the day:
- Sitges, a short drive down the coast.
- Girona, a longer day that can include the old town and the surrounding area.
- Costa Brava towns such as Tossa de Mar and Cadaqués, which suit a full day or a night away.
- Valencia, which is a long day or an overnight.
If the distance is long, I may suggest a stay for the driver. That is part of the quote and shown plainly, never a surprise charge. The EU limits how long a driver of a vehicle with ten or more seats, including the driver, may be at the wheel before a break, and the European Commission sets these rules out. They apply to the Sprinter, the minibus and the coach, and not to the V-Class, which is why long programmes with a big vehicle are planned with care.
Can I book a chauffeur from the cruise port?
Yes. The Port of Barcelona terminals to or from Barcelona are priced exactly like the airport row, so the V-Class is €80 and the Sprinter €200. The Port of Barcelona publishes information for cruise passengers, including its passenger terminals and how to get to the port, and I confirm the terminal with you before the day.
Cruise days have a hard deadline: the ship sails. I plan the pick-up and the return around the all-aboard time you give me, and I tell you honestly if a programme is too ambitious for the hours. The cruise port transfer page covers this in detail.
How far ahead should I book a chauffeur?
Book as soon as the date and the number of passengers are settled. A booking made weeks before a congress, a wedding weekend or a cruise day gives me time to plan the vehicle and the route, and a short-notice request is still welcome: send it and I reply with what is possible.
The details that change a quote are few. The date matters because some weeks are busier than others. The number of passengers decides the vehicle. The pick-up and drop-off decide whether the booking is a table row or a quote. If you are not sure about one of them, say so in the form and I give you the answer for the most likely case, then adjust once you know more.
Is a limousine available, and what do you not offer?
No. I do not offer stretch limousines, and a few other things are outside the service. Knowing them in advance saves a week:
- a limousine or stretch car
- self-drive hire
- a shared shuttle with other passengers
- a fixed price for destinations that are not in the table
- tickets, tours or guides
If your plan needs one of these, I tell you plainly so you can look elsewhere. For an experience that needs a guide, book the guide separately and the driver takes you both.
What is the difference between a chauffeur and a private driver?
The two words describe nearly the same service. I use “chauffeur service” for a booking made in advance for a vehicle and a driver, usually with a business or event angle, and the one-car, one-to-three-stop version is covered on the private driver page. The prices come from the same table.
How to book a chauffeur service
- Use the quote form below.
- Enter the date, the pick-up address and the number of passengers.
- Say whether you need a transfer or a driver for several hours.
- Add the flight details, luggage and any special requests.
- I reply by e-mail or WhatsApp with the vehicle I suggest and the price, VAT included.
If the plan changes after the quote, tell me as early as you can and I adjust the hours or the vehicle. The home page shows the whole fleet and how a booking runs from the first message to the drop-off.
