If your group lands at Barcelona-El Prat and sleeps in Sitges, the transfer is short but the logistics are not. Bags come off the belt at different times, the group is rarely together, and a seaside town does not always have a bus stop next to the villa. A private vehicle waiting for the whole group solves most of that. This page explains how Barcelona airport to Sitges works for groups: the road, the public transport options, which vehicle fits, how I price it and what I need from you.

How far is Barcelona airport from Sitges?

Barcelona airport to Sitges is 32 km by road, about 30 min without traffic (Google Maps route). That figure comes from a free-flow route calculation, so add time on a Friday evening, at the start of a summer weekend or when a big event is on in the town.

The airport is run by Aena, whose airport page lists the two terminals, T1 and T2, and the ways to reach them. For planning, I treat 30 min as the best case and brief the group leader that landing time, baggage reclaim and the walk to the vehicle come before the drive. The first bags can arrive within minutes and the last within a long wait, and the vehicle leaves when the group is complete.

How much does the airport to Sitges transfer cost?

Airport to Sitges is quoted on request, and the quote includes VAT. It is not in my table. The table lists an airport or cruise port run to or from Barcelona (V-Class €80, Sprinter €200, minibus €320, coach €320), hourly hire and day rates, and Sitges is a different route, so I do not apply the Barcelona figure to it.

I quote on request instead of printing a made-up “from” price because the figure depends on the vehicle, the date, the pick-up time and whether you want a return. Tell me the date, the flight, the passengers and the address in Sitges, and I send the figure for the whole vehicle by e-mail or WhatsApp. Everything else, including several days, other dates and other airports, is also quoted on request. The prices page shows what is in the table.

Which vehicle for your group?

Seats come first, luggage second. I work with four vehicle sizes, and the passenger list is the first thing I check.

Vehicle Seats Typical group
Mercedes V-Class up to 7 Family, small friends group, board members
Mercedes Sprinter minibus up to 16 Stag or hen party, sports squad, wedding party
Minibus up to 33 Large wedding party, school or club group
Coach up to 60 Full tour group, conference delegation

A V-Class with seven adults and seven large suitcases is a tight fit, so for that group I would move up to the Mercedes Sprinter. A group of 16 with big bags is often better in the next size up. A stag or hen party tends to bring more luggage than the passenger count suggests, because of costumes, speakers and shopping on the way, so mention them in the form.

If you plan to use the vehicle again during the stay, the minibus hire page explains the mid-size vehicles in more detail.

How do I get from the airport to Sitges by train?

There is no direct train. The Sitges tourism page on the R2 Sud commuter train says to take the train from the airport to El Prat de Llobregat, one stop, change trains there and take a train in the opposite direction to Sitges. It gives 24 minutes for the R2 Sud ride from El Prat de Llobregat to Sitges and says trains run every 30 minutes. Aena’s train page shows the airport end of this: the R2 Nord line from the Terminal T2 station.

For one traveller with a cabin bag that is a reasonable plan. For a group it means a train change on a platform with suitcases, a wait for the next departure and a walk from Sitges station to the accommodation. It also means that a delay in one of the two legs breaks the connection for everyone. Current timetables and fares are with the operator, so use Renfe rather than an old PDF.

Is there a bus from the airport to Sitges?

Yes, there is an intercity line. Aena’s bus page lists Bus Garraf, running between Barcelona and El Vendrell, which serves Terminal 1 and has Sitges among its stops. The Sitges tourism page on how to get to Sitges describes the same line from the Sitges side and says that weekend and holiday schedules differ.

That is useful information if you travel alone or in a pair. For a group the practical limits are the same as for the train: a stop rather than a door, a schedule that is not yours and luggage on the pavement. I do not give timetables or fares, because they belong to the operator.

How does a private vehicle compare with public transport and taxis?

For a group with luggage, a private vehicle is the simpler plan. The comparison below is about logistics, not price, because only my own figure is mine to state.

  • Train. One change at El Prat de Llobregat, a platform walk with bags, and a schedule that is not yours.
  • Bus. A scheduled intercity line from Terminal 1, with a stop that may not be near the accommodation.
  • Taxi. Metered and available, but a standard car holds a small number of passengers, so a larger group spreads over several cars and has to coordinate at both ends. The Barcelona area authority explains the system at AMB taxi.
  • Private vehicle. One booking, one pick-up point, one drop-off, whatever the group size.

If you also wonder about ride apps, their price changes with demand, and I do not quote it. The question to ask is whether the vehicle fits the whole group and its bags, and that is where a Sprinter, a minibus or a coach does the job.

What do I need to tell you for the pick-up?

Give me the flight number and arrival time in the form, and I plan the pick-up around it. For groups the main questions are these.

  1. How many passengers are there, and are any of them children or guests with reduced mobility?
  2. How many large suitcases are there, and is there anything unusual such as golf bags, bikes or instruments?
  3. Where in Sitges are you staying: hotel, apartment or villa? Narrow old-town streets can mean a drop-off at the nearest accessible point rather than at the door.
  4. Do you need the same vehicle for the return, or a different day?
  5. Which terminal do you land at? The airport has T1 and T2.

For a group that arrives on several flights, tell me all the arrival times. I can quote one vehicle waiting for the last flight, or two smaller runs, whichever is more practical.

What does the arrival day look like from landing to the door?

The sequence is the same for every group, and the part that varies is the waiting. A typical arrival goes like this: the flight lands, passengers walk to the baggage hall, the bags appear over a period that no one controls, and the group gathers in the arrivals hall. The driver meets the group at the agreed point and loads the bags. After that, the drive itself is the short part: 32 km, about 30 min without traffic.

The time that people underestimate is the gap between landing and leaving the airport. A group of 20 on one flight rarely leaves together in the time of one person, because one lost suitcase or one toilet stop delays everyone. That is why I plan the pick-up from the landing time and not from a guess, and why I ask for all the flights when the group does not arrive together.

If the group lands in the late evening, check the check-in arrangements of the accommodation before you travel. A villa or apartment often has a key handover that needs notice, and the vehicle can wait at the address only as long as the plan allows. Ask the host for the exact address, a phone number and the best approach for a larger vehicle.

Which drop-off points work in a seaside town?

The closest point the road allows may be a few streets from the door. Sitges has an old centre with narrow streets, and a minibus or coach cannot enter every lane. For a V-Class or a Sprinter the problem is smaller; for a 33-seat minibus or a 60-seat coach it can decide where the group steps out.

Give me the address and, if you can, the name of the street where the host says vehicles can stop. I plan the drop-off at the nearest practical point and tell you how far the walk is, so you can arrange for the bags. For a group of mixed ages, say so in the form, because a short walk with older guests or small children changes where I suggest stopping. A hotel with a forecourt is easier than a flat in a pedestrian street, and a villa on a hill road may need a smaller vehicle than the group would otherwise take.

How does the return trip to the airport work?

A return is a separate leg that I quote with the first one if you ask. Departing groups need two things: a pick-up time counted back from the flight and a plan for the bags. As a rule I count back from the check-in and security time you want, then add the drive of about 30 min without traffic and a margin for the road.

For an early flight, the service runs 24/7, so a pick-up in the small hours is a normal booking. For a group with different flights, I can combine the runs or split them, depending on how far apart the departures are. Tell me every departure time and terminal in the form, and I confirm the plan before the date.

Is the transfer worth it for a stag, hen or wedding group?

Yes, because those groups are the ones for whom public transport fails. A stag or hen party lands in a wave, wants to start the weekend together and carries more luggage than it admits. A wedding group includes older relatives, children and a bride’s dress. For these groups the cost of one vehicle is the cost of arriving as one party, at one door, at the planned time.

Sitges is also a festival town. Its film festival, for example, is held in October, and the festival’s own page gives the 59th edition as 8 to 18 October 2026 (Sitges Film Festival). Other events fill the calendar through the year. Check the Sitges tourism site for dates when you choose your arrival day, because busy weekends mean busier roads and fuller hotels, and I plan the pick-up with that margin.

Can I keep the vehicle during the stay?

Yes, as a separate booking. Once in Sitges, hourly hire is the better fit if the group wants the vehicle for the evening or for a day out. Hourly hire has a 6-hour minimum per day, with no maximum, and extra hours are charged at the hourly rate. A later run back is quoted separately, and the Barcelona to Sitges minibus page explains the city leg.

If part of the group arrives at the cruise terminals instead, the cruise port transfer page applies to that part. For other long runs from the airport, see Tarragona too.

The service runs 24/7, so a late-night landing or a very early departure for a flight home is a normal booking. Tell me the departure time of the return flight and I count back from it with you, leaving a margin for the road and the airport.

How do I book?

  1. Send the form below with the date, the flight number, the number of passengers and the number of large suitcases.
  2. Tell me your Sitges address and whether you need the return.
  3. I reply by e-mail or WhatsApp with the vehicle I recommend and the quote, VAT included.
  4. You confirm, and I plan the pick-up around your flight.

If you would rather write first, the contact page has the details. For an overview of the vehicles and routes, start from the bus hire Barcelona home page.

Frequently asked questions

How do I get from Barcelona airport to Sitges with a group?

The simplest option for a group is one private vehicle from the terminal to your hotel or villa. Public transport exists, with a train change or a coach line from Terminal 1, and the official pages are linked in this article. For a group with suitcases, a private Sprinter, minibus or coach usually avoids splitting up.

What is the closest airport to Sitges?

Barcelona-El Prat is the closest major airport to Sitges, 32 km by road, about 30 min without traffic. Girona and Reus are further away and only worth considering if your flight lands there; I can quote those runs too.

Is there a direct train from Barcelona airport to Sitges?

Not according to the Sitges tourism page. It says to take the train from the airport to El Prat de Llobregat, one stop away, change there and take a train in the opposite direction to Sitges. For a group with luggage, that change is the awkward part.

Is there a bus from Barcelona airport to Sitges?

Aena lists the intercity Bus Garraf line, serving Terminal 1, with Sitges among its stops. Operator timetables and fares change, so check them with the operator. A private vehicle is the alternative when the group travels together and leaves when it is ready.

How much does a taxi cost from Barcelona airport to Sitges?

Taxi fares depend on the meter, the time of day and extras, so I do not quote them here. For a group, the question is how many cars you would need. A private Sprinter seats up to 16, a minibus up to 33 and a coach up to 60, and I quote the transfer on request.

Can the vehicle take a group of 20 people with luggage?

Yes. For 20 people with suitcases I would plan a 33-seat minibus, because the spare seats and hold space carry the bags. Tell me the number of passengers and large suitcases in the form and I confirm the vehicle.

Is the Sitges transfer price in your price table?

No. The table lists the airport to Barcelona transfer, hourly hire and day rates. Airport to Sitges is quoted on request, with VAT included in the figure I send back.
